The primary role of the department is to deliver social housing programs and related infrastructure across the Territory, and to build stronger regions and communities through sustainable economic development and effective local government.

We provide a range of services to support and strengthen communities throughout the Northern Territory including:

• local government monitoring and support
• interpreter and translator services
• regional and Indigenous economic development
• coordination of remote service delivery

• animal welfare.
