Remote Housing NT

Inspections

Your house will be inspected four times a year. Inspections will allow Territory Housing to find out what repairs and maintenance need to be carried out immediately and other non-urgent repairs that can be completed over time.

Inspections will also show Territory Housing that you are looking after your home as part of your tenancy agreement.

Additional internal inspections may occur if you have made a maintenance request. If maintenance issues are identified as your responsibility you will be given 28 days to repair the damage. To ensure the damage has been repaired a follow up inspection will take place with your consent. If you chose not to repair the damage, Territory Housing may repair it and then charge you the cost of the repairs.

Lease extension inspections will take place six weeks prior to the expiration of a fixed-term lease, with damage to be repaired 14 days from the date of the inspection.

Your housing officer also conducts regular ‘drive by’ inspections to ascertain if the grounds of the dwelling are being appropriately cared for.
