Darwin

Darwin region is structured differently to the other regions in that Territory Housing is located separately to the rest of the department with offices in the CBD and suburbs as well as remote locations in the Top End.   

The Darwin region includes the cities of Darwin and Palmerston, Litchfield Council, Coomalie, Wagait and Belyuen Community Government Councils and the Tiwi Islands Shire. 

A key focus of the Darwin regional office is to:

• manage public/government housing assets and tenancies in urban and remote areas
• continually improve tenancy and property management, by focussing on sustaining tenancies and working with tenants and other support agencies on what it means to be a good neighbour
• work with non-government organisations to reduce homelessness in the region.

Offices are located in:

Local Government, Regional and Community Services is located in RCG House on Smith Street. 

The main focus for this area is to:

• develop strength and capacity in local government bodies
• stimulate sustainable economic growth and wealth creation across the Territory through sustainable economic development
• provide interpreter and translator services to alleviate language barriers in accessing government services
• promote water safety and animal welfare.
